RE: Unhealthy lies and the truth about health care reform
Posted by iamjamieq on 08.24.09 @ 01:58 PM
Once again, a typical Grooms post - stupid, unintelligible, ridiculous, illogical, idiotic, and worts of all, unjournalistic! I can't believe he calls himself a reporter!
frankgriffin has done a great job setting the record straight on the lies Grooms calls debunking. Even still, the "lies" that Grooms is using as examples, at least most of them, are not claims by mainstream opponents of the House resolution. Most of them are just claims that were made by a couple of people that Grooms will hold up as typical. Sorry, Grooms, but when the former governor of Alaska uses the term "death panels" on Facebook that's hardly a credible example of the general thoughts of reform opponents.
But about that, you claim that Obama doesn't want to kill granny. In fact, Obama has said so himself. While I don't believe that section 1233 will create death panels, you might ask yourself (well you won't because you lack journalitic integrity) why people started thinking those sorts of thing in the first place? Maybe because the Obama administration is doing things elsewhere that might indicate with section 1233 would turn into. For example, the VA Death Book. The Obama administration has reinstated a practice that was stopped by the Bush administration, to use a book, entitled "Your Life Your Choices" when discussing health care options with people being treated by the VA. Sure, the name of the book sounds great, but some parts of the book seem questionable, such as Page 21, titled "What makes your life worth living?" (http://www.rihlp.org/pubs/Your_life_your_choices.pdf) Its things like that, John, that make people question the President's claim.
As for being forced into the government run system, even if you ignore the fact that frankgriffin pointed out, that after 5 years everyone will be forced into the public "option" (hardly an 'option' at that point) the House resolution prevents anyone from altering their plan. So when the private companies start lowering their prices, thanks to the government competition, as is the claim we're being told, those on a private plan will not be able to change to a cheaper plan because as soon as they try to alter their plan they are forced to choose the public option. How does that make any sense? Rather, how can you claim that government will not be running the entire health care system with provisions like that?
Now, as for people like Grooms and Sandra Gray, who continually claim that opponents have offered up no other solutions, that's complete and utter 100% bull and if you'd look for them you'd see them. Unfortunately, people like you are more content crying foul than considering someone other than Obama had any ideas for health care reform. The GOP has a website dedicated to tracking different solutions proposed by GOP members and others (http://barackobamaexperiment.com/gop-health-care-solutions). The CEO of Whole Foods has written a FANTASTIC op-ed that highlights all kinds of great ways to reform health care, while keeping government out of it (http://www2.wholefoodsmarket.com/blogs/jmackey/2009/08/14/health-care-reform-full-article/). Here's some reality for Obamacare supporters: HIS WAY IS NOT THE ONLY WAY!! I don't give a crap who the President is, but just because he says it is so, doesn't make it so. Also, and this goes out to jasonbowman, the opponents of Obama's health care reform are not just the "cons" you claim them to be. In fact, the bipartisan effort on this topic is against Obama's health care reform, not for it. A majority of Americans DISAGREE with Obama, not the other way around. That is FACT!
Grooms, you get an emphatic million thumbs down for this article. I mean, I've read some the trash you've written in the past, but this takes the cake.

Another gem from Amy Goodman, purveyor of propaganda, falsifications, lies, idiocy, misleading information, and generally stupidity.
Ms. Goodman, it would do you well to actually read the police report and discover the sequence of events for yourself, rather than just assume that Gates was arrested "despite his positive idenfitication."
Pathetic article, as expected.

Why doesn't the Eastside PAC just go to an Obama town hall meeting and beg? I'm sure they'll get what they want.
RE: U.S. Muslims still under siege

Of course Obama said that America is not a Christian or Jewish country. Because Obama is a socialist, arrogant tyrant wannabe who only want Americans to have faith in him, and not some "silly" god. In fact, America was founded upon Judeo-Christian values, something that absolutely can't be disputed, no matter how hard you try. Hell, the reason why the pilgrims left England came to America was freedom of religious persecution, so they could practice their religion in freedom. Now, that is to say, America is not a place where Muslims are not allowed, only that America was founded on different values, especially different from certain religious values that allow the beating of women, and the beheading of people. But I'm seriously daydreaming if I believe Obama will ever tell the truth about America rather than spew his anti-American propaganda and rhetoric. Now, as for Samir Megahed, if his son had been found guilty the first time, would he have been so appreciative of "the system" then? Probably not. I'm sure the only reason he said that "the system works" is because Youssef was acquitted. Well Samir, the "system" allows your son to be detained again. Lo and behold, the system is still working, like it or not. It has nothing to do with Muslims. If I were a passenger in a car with a guy who is now serving 15 years, I, too, would be in the same situation as Youssef. When cops make drug busts, do they completely ignore the people who just "happen" to be "unwitting" residents of crack houses? i don't think so. It sucks that you may lose your son to deportation, but that is your son's, and Mohamed's, fault, not the system's. We are a nation of laws, and we follow those laws (or at least we should be).
RE: The Ryan Moats debacle

Wow! I am actually impressed with this story. For two reasons actually. First off, because Nsenga finally wrote an article that makes sense from a logical and an emotional perspective and isn't just a rant about some crap nobody cares about, or that makes no logical sense. But second because she didn't make this a racial thing. I've had a long discussion with a friend about this story, and all she could say is that the cop made it a racial thing, that the only reason Moats was stopped is because he's black. Nsenga never once, for the first time since I've been reading CL, claimed that Powell overexerted his power with racist intentions. Instead she pointed out that he was just being a d-bag, which he clearly was. Thank you, Nsenga, for finally writing an article that makes logical points, references historical fact, and avoids all emotional tendencies to label everyone a racist, sexist, or something similar. Officer Powell is simply a dick who should seriously be evauated, and most possibly fired. Society needs cops, not power hungry, uncompassionate jerks like Powell.

Nothing like being tailgated by a State Trooper goign 95 on I-485. Well done Tara! Its time CMPD made a rule for cops regarding speeding tickets.

Why am I not surprised that John Grooms has no respect for people who have different beliefs than him? But John Grooms is ooooohh so tolerant. You're right, Grooms, conservative "blowhards" have no right to fight for what they believe in. Only liberal Obama-ites are allowed to have beliefs in Grooms' world. Of course, if the right wing were to ever mount a campaign to have Che Guevara shirts banned from public Grooms would be all up in arms about the disrespect towards one of his prophets. John Grooms, you are an ignorant, intolerant jerk. But of course you are, you're a liberal.

RE: When did being rude become the norm?
Posted by iamjamieq on 03.24.09 @ 10:34 AM
I'm calling B-S on Nsenga here. This isn't an article about rudeness, its an article on people not tipping servers. Here's some harsh truth for you, Nsenga, and everyone else who has the same attitude: NOBODY IS FORCING ANYONE TO WORK AS A SERVER!!!
That's right. Strangely, we still have some liberties in this country, one of them being where you choose to work. How many servers do you know that took their job thinking "I love this job. Tips are just a benefit." I know none. I do, however, know a ton of servers who took their job thinking "Yay tips!"
If you don't like relying on tips for your living, GET A DIFFERENT JOB! I work 40 hours a week and I get paid 40 hours a week because my job doesn't rely on tips! Its not rocket surgery! Nsenga, you are just making excuses for people who thought they could make a whole lot of money waiting tables and got disappointed when they weren't rolling in the dough.
This whole article is B-S. You want an article on rudeness, try writing about people talking on cellphones in their car, or some such like that. If a server hates their job, QUIT.
