Meck co. should take the final step and end mandatory attendance laws. Why should kids who don't want to go to school be forced to go to failing public schools? The public school / forced de-segregation experiment has failed.

Why not allow more free market choices in education?

Secondly, they should cut the property tax rate by at least half. Open things up!

I know the Dems wont propose that, but I'm not holding my breath for anyone on the GOP to do that either.

Wish I could figure out a way to pay just half of my '09 property taxes...darn..

Grooms should love Palin...

she's a fellow bleeding heart liberal populist / socialist only masquerading as a conservative.

She believes in nation building and domestic welfare big time, and is pro choice!

So why all the insults towards her just because she has an R in front of her name? Grooms should embrace her!

The more I look at this law, its dawning on me that this will be a boon to defense attorneys. It wont really help the perps, they'll still be in prison but attorneys will be able to drag out more billing time in arguing against the death penalty.

So the REAL losers will be the victims and the taxpayers -- as usual. The winners will be the attorneys. Nothing changes...

Grooms deftly shows the disconnect between the left and right and their respective relationships with the state.

We've had the most blatant attacks on our liberty under Bush's rule. Obama is doing much of the same. The right will always look the other way when the GOP is the one doing the power grabs. Individualism, self-determination -- these USED to be associated with the right. Not anymore, now its hyper-nationalism, militarism and socialism. The same with the left. Thats why you'll NEVER see any talk of dramatically decreasing the Federal leviathan even with the "limited govt" GOP in charge.

I see now many on the left are upset that Fox is denigrating OBama, now they say, "respect the office of the presidency" I remember O'Reilly and Hannity saying that all the time when the left was bashing Bush! The wheels on the bus go round and round....

I remember when Bush got his trillion dollar welfare Drug Benefit passed by the GOP controlled congress -- there was hardly a peep from the Right.

Many of the fed's power grabs have to do with "security". The GOP and Dems love this. They're running a world empire. They have killed millions overseas and here in numerous shadowy engagements. Of course now many of those victims' families have set their sites on the US. So rather than pull out and act like a "constitutional republic" instead of an empire, they must make sure us peasants don't get too crazy and start making demands to get our liberty back. Thus, the spying and other shenanigans....

The big secret that was downplayed by the Bush regime about the "surge" was that it was mostly used to hide the fact that the US was paying "insurgents" almost a million per day NOT to attack. Millions in money it stole from taxpayers and created out of thin air. That along with forced segregation by the Shi 'ites and Sunni's and the voluntary Mahdi army standdown, led to the drop in violence. We're still broke so, Obama is likely waiting to see if we can borrow a few billion from China to payoff the Taliban first before deciding on a strategy. Oh wait, its an un-declared illegal, immoral war too..I guess that gets lost in the shuffle.

What they are saying is:

Someone who SHOULD get the death penalty maybe should not get it because another race of person might not have gotten the death penalty in the same situation.

I understand the liberals's train of thought here. They think that since, in the past, blacks got the death penalty for killing whites and whites many times were acquitted for killing blacks that somehow this Act will change things. Nope.

Black people commit more violent crime than whites on average. And most times its against other blacks. It's understandable that they would get the death penalty in cases that warrant the state's ultimate justice.

What about justice for the victims?

I'm not naive enough to think that there is no racial bias in considering the death penalty. But that doesn't mean that the perp does not deserve the death penalty for what they did.

With that said, the Racial Justice Act is just stupid, it just makes things worse than they are.

RE: Veterans Day checkup: What's Obama done for vets so far?

Posted by luke2008 on 11.11.09 @ 09:57 AM

To each his own...

I only can only comment on what I've seen.

You're proud of your service? Good for you. Did you fight in a foreign war other than WWII? I hope not.

VA care is not "free". nothing in this world is free except the salvation of Jesus Christ.

I am working to improve the system by supporting anyone willing to cut spending, taxes and bureaucracy. I will continue to speak out in support of liberty. I support anyone who unabashedly upholds the 2nd amendment.

The "system" you love so much does not protect you or me, it kills, steals and destroys. You believe that only the state can teach work ethic, discipline and respect. I say the state has done the most to destroy those values and teaches dependence on the state.

The only thing keeping it at bay is the grassroots folks fighting for gun rights, self-determination, individual liberty and free markets.

We've got soo many vets.

-- fight for a lie
-- die for nothing
-- get limbs blown off for nothing
-- come back and go through bureaucracy for any health benefits.

I've got friends who fought in Iraq coming back with injuries who hate the VA.

Best thing Obama can do now is tell young people -- don't join the military!

I'd love it. lol!

I agree here too..two parties are better than one party rule. at least there's some gridlock. I didnt see much with McCrory though.

Servations says the white GOP supporters are now moving to the suburbs and Union county. Notice taxes and government spending are rising there too!

I'm not so sure that Mccrory was so much different than Foxx will be.

Servatius coyly avoids that white control also brought huge taxes, huge spending, huge bureaucracy, social and corporate welfare -- all things she has routinely spoken against. So what will black control bring? I guess the same? Oh well.... Does it matter the color or is it the policies?

Then again I could care less about what colors run the city.

Who's going to keep their hands out of my pockets for tax money? Who's going to make it easier to run a business?

Neither.

Frank, I think maybe that it could be the case of "giving the black guy a chance". I don't really know about that one though.

I can't stand racial identity politics but it is reality.

I guess white folks vote en masse like black folks do though. Collectivism still runs rampant in the world. I've seen where white liberals would not vote for the more liberal non-white candidate because of race. I've also seen white conservatives refuse to vote for black conservatives because of that candidate's race. And vice versa.

Yep Obama was part of the Senate since '04 so we he was part of the problem. He didnt "inherit" anything. He was supporting gun control, voting to send money to build Iraq's US-style welfare state, all of Bush's exorbitant spending bills too.

So he was right there in the mix.
