RE: How dangerous are Tasers?

Posted by Zach on 09.05.09 @ 01:57 AM

There was a recent Taser incident in Fort Worth, Texas where it was alleged that Police shot a mentally challenged black man who either continued to resist OR simply received "special treatment" by Officer's involved. That man died. The duration of voltage fed to the deceased was of 40+ seconds. How that information is collected I am unaware, but one could surmise that a jolt of 50K over time with just fractional amperage could be potentially fatal. I am a layperson, without medical training so I am guessing here, but wouldn't 40+ seconds at 50k continuously firing the voluntary musculature result in complete muscle failure? And if so, could there also have been "electrical bleed over" to involuntary musculature?
