In response to "Shocked and awed" by Cheris Hodges

Published 12.09.08

It is unfortunate that this incident occured Oct. 18. The Penguin Restaurant has a zero tolerance policy for discrimination of any type. We are unable to comment, because this is an ongoing legal matter. There are usually two sides to any story, and unfortunately in this article there is only one.

I think it's important to add that it was not this paper's intent to paint The Penguin as a business that tolerates discrimination. Morever, there's not one line in the story stating that the restaurnat is involved in discriminatory practices. The incident outlined in the article was unfortunate, and we wish all parties involved the best.

The intent was obviously to promote a story with a racial slant that did not exist. Very irresponsible.
